Hybrid Recording
Hybrid recording lets you capture video or still images to DVD and Memory Stick PRO Duo and Memory Stick Duo media. DVDs can be played back in most DVD players (SD), computers, Blu-ray Disc players and Play Station 3 video game consoles. Use the Memory Stick media for quick and easy emailing, transferring to PCs, printing or using with compatible Memory Stick devices. Also burn video from the Memory Stick to DVD in-camera.
2.3Mp 1/5" Advanced HAD CCD Sensor
The 2.3Mp 1/5" Advanced HAD (Hole Accumulation Diode) CCD sensor gives your video and still images better than ever clarity, accuracy and detail with 2.3Mp (effective) pixels. The BIONZ image processor provides faster response times from the camera and noise reduction for perfect pixels. Exmor technology provides high resolution images with outstanding detail and rich tones, further improving this already spectacular image sensor.
BIONZ Image Processor
Sony's BIONZ Image Processor uses hardware based Large Scale Integrated (LSI) circuitry to provide the camera with a faster response time and prolong battery life. The BIONZ also removes noise from the image prior to RAW data conversion for the cleanest video possible and handles the Dynamic Range Optimization processing.
Face Detection for Video & Still Images
The BIONZ processor enables the Face Detection technology on the HDR-UX10 camcorder. This system recognizes up to 8 faces anywhere in a frame automatically adjusting focus, exposure and color for the most natural skin tones in each image while leaving background images unchanged.
Dynamic Range Optimizer 2
Never worry again about capturing images on bright days or in low-light conditions. The BIONZ processor powers this high-speed processing engine that automatically adjusts the scene for you. Bright highlights are brought down, preventing whiteout and preserving detail even on the sunniest of days. In lowlight or backlit settings, the Dynamic Range Optimizer brings out detail in shadows resulting in a natural and clear scene.
Built-In Zoom Mic with 5.1 Channel Recording
When your camera's zoom goes in for the close-up so does the built-in zoom mic. The mic focuses on the sound coming from your subject, letting all other noises fall into the background for clear and accurate dialogue and sound.

Film Roll Index 2
Sony makes finding scenes quick and user-friendly with the Film Roll Index 2. Much like the chapters in a book the index helps you find the video scenes you want by previewing the beginning. You also have the option to display scenes at intervals of 3, 6 and 12 seconds or 1 and 5 minutes.
Face Index 2
The ingenious Face Index 2 technology lets you find the video scene you want by face. Choose from the faces displayed in the index and the scenes in which that person appears will be selected.
HDMI Connection with Bravia Sync (CEC) Technology
This HDMI connection allows HD video and 5.1 channel audio signals to transfer from the camcorder to a compatible HDTV via one cable using Bravia Sync (CEC) technology. Control the HDTV and the camcorder with the Bravia TV remote as well thanks to the HDMI.

DVD+RW has the advantage of instant playback without finalization in DVD players (SD), Blu-ray Disc players, computers and PlayStation 3 video game consoles. DVD-R/-RW and R DL compatible formats can all be finalized in-camera.
